The flag was adopted on 3 March 1992 at the 8th session of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament). 5 March 1992 was raised first time above Parliament House. The red background of the flag symbolizes bravery, the sun represents peace and wealth, and the tyundyuk — signifies fatherland and the universe in general.

State Symbol: mountainous eagle symbolizes bounty and vigilance, high thoughts of kyrgyzstanis, living in the country of mountains. Waters of lake - symbol of natural beauty, source of life and energy. Was adopted 14 January 1994 on Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) session.
