Summary

Study is directed to development of principle base of perfect types of drainage applicability for land reclamation in Hunger Steppe. Hunger steppe area is about 1 mln.ha from which 850 th.ha are suitable for irrigation. Climate is sharply continental. Ground water table is l-20m, water salinity is l-36g/l. Soil-sandy loam, loam (light, medium and heavy), salinity type: chloride-sulfate and sulfate-chloride. Irrigated lands (about 700) th.ha are located in command zone of Kirov and South-Golodnostepsky canals. Canals efficiency is 0.6-0.65 in old zone and 0.85 in new one. There are about 1660 vertical wells. Collector-drainage network extent is 22000 km including 14.500 km subsurface drainage. Based on known principles (geomorphological, hydrogeological, soil-reclamation, technical-economic) are zoning is made; large vertical drainage systems in Shuruzyak, Sardoba, Bayaut massifs, in Pahtaaral, Dzhetysai and Kirov rayons have been designed and constructed.
