Summary

Studies are dedicated to the problems of defining vertical drainage efficiency on saline lands of West Fergana. Establishment of basic parameters of vertical drainage system combining vertical and horizontal drainage operation providing optimal area drainability, water-salt regime regulation, and increase of soil fertility as well as agricultural crop yield capacity in conditions of artesian waters.EPP area is typical for West Fergana regarding natural-economic and ecological peculiarities. Climate is continental. Soils -  medium and strongly saline. Ground water salinity - 3-10 g/l. Plot irrigated area - 550 ha. Land use efficiency - 0.81.Irrigation network in earthen channel, specific length - 21 m/ha. Water supply from Aktauk-say canal. Drainage - open and closed, depth - 1.5-2.0 m.Depth of main collectors and collectors appropriately 2.5-3.0 and 3.0-3.5 m. 7 wells of vertical drainage are constructed on depth 22.7-60.74 m with gravel-sand screen, well capacity 10-45 l/sec.Studies show that in EPP conditions semi-hydromorphous reclamation regime is the most beneficial  under crop irrigation both with fresh (0.5-0.7 g/l) and saline water to 3 g/l with ground water regulation within limits 2.5-3.0 m. In this case optimal water-salt regime is achieved under net irrigation norm 6325-7700 m3/ha.Under automorphous reclamation regime and ground water table (GWT) 3-4 m optimal water-salt regime is achieved under irrigation norm 5520-6000 m3/ha.

With transit to hydromorphous regime (GWT - 1.5-1.9) m to create optimal water-salt regime irrigation water expenses reach 8890 m3/ha.

The results of multiyear studies, parameters of vertical drainage operation systems (VDS) (capacity, specific capacity, influence radius, systems efficiency, etc.) are given in this paper. Drainage module dynamics on EPP in initial state during VDS operation period, GWT and artesian waters regulation radius, rate of lowering, results of balance studies, soil desalinizating process in aeration zone to 7-8 m. Irrigation norm is established providing regulating of water-salt regime in soil, ground water, collector-drainage water, and pumped water as well as obtaining high and sustainable agricultural crop yield capacity. Regularity of soil desalinization is established.
