ROUND TABLE: "THE ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN ADDRESSING CLIMATE CHANGE” HELD IN UZBEKISTAN

21 November 2009, Youth section of the Environmental Movement of Uzbekistan held a round table: “The Role of Civil Society in Addressing Climate Change” in partnership with the Public Council under the Interstate Committee on Sustainable Development and Youth Environmental Network of Uzbekistan.
The main goal of the event was to draw the attention of the population to the problem of climate change, involvement of state and public organizations representatives , scientists and specialists into discussion of the ways to prevent climate change for the environment and health of population in Uzbekistan.
The round table was attended by specialists of relevant ministries and agencies, representatives of international organizations, academic circles, civil society and mass media. Participants discussed the position of public organizations and state bodies on climate change issues.
The result of the meting was the Message of Participants, which will be submitted to relevant state and international organizations that are engaged in addressing of climate change.
