OVER 3.6M TONS OF COTTON HARVESTED IN UZBEKISTAN
More than 3.6 million tons of cotton have been harvested in Uzbekistan as of 16 October.
The cotton growers of the country have managed to harvest the high-quality cotton fiber before the weather conditions worsened.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov congratulated the country’s cotton growers with reaching the planned targets.
85% of the cotton harvested this year was provided by farms.
Scientific research institutes of Uzbekistan have created more than 100 new sorts of cotton during the years of independence, including Bukhara-6, S-6524, Namangan-77, Omad, Bukhara-8 and Bukhara-102. These sorts have a high crop capacity and allow to significantly increase cotton production in the country.
