KAZAKH DELEGATION TOOK PART IN SYMPOSIUM FOR PLANNING NATO PROGRAM PARTNERSHIP FOR PEACE
The previous week Kazakhstan’s delegation headed by Vice Minister of Defense Bolat Sembinov took part in an annual symposium for planning NATO program Partnership for Peace in Oberammergau, Germany, and visited NATO headquarters in Brussels in order to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation.
Deputy Secretary General of NATO Claudio Bisogniero held talks with Secretary General’s Assistants Martin Erdmann, Martin Howard, Jiri Sedivy, Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons. They considered a wide range of issues of Kazakhstan’s interaction with the Alliance within the framework of an individual plan of actions of partnership adopted in January 2006, and an agenda of the forthcoming summit of NATO Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council in Bucharest.
NATO’s administration expressed readiness to assist in Kazakhstani armed forces’ reformation, development of peacekeeping potential, realization of regional initiatives within the framework of the Partnership for Peace Program.
Results of these meetings have special significance for practical realization of agreements between Kazakhstan and NATO.
