6.1 When/where does the 5th Forum take place? The 5th Forum will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, from March 16th to 22nd, 2009. The exact venue within the city is currently being defined. 6.2 Why is it going to be held in Istanbul? Turkey was selected as the organizer of the Forum from six possible candidates following an extensive process. With a history rich in water resources, culture and technology, Turkey presented a very strong candidature, especially due to the tri-partite cooperation established between the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. 6.3 How many people are expected in Istanbul? Some 20,000 participants are expected to attend the Forum in Istanbul, many of whom are expected to take part in the Forum’s preparatory process. 6.4 How many sessions will be held during the 5th Forum? Emphasising quality over quantity, approximately 100 sessions will be held during the 5th Forum, and will be included in the Forum’s 3rd announcement, to be published around November 2008. Other activities will include Panel debates, the Forum Fair and Expo, a Learning Centre, cinematographic and cultural events, open segments to encourage greater exchange, and tourist visits. 6.5 Where / how can I register? Registrations will be opened one year prior to the Event, in March 2008. Early registrations will benefit from a 20% discount on entrance fees. Registration will be accessible through the Forum website www.worldwaterforum5.org. 6.6 Where can I find information on the Forum? What is the website?
